Candidate Doug Ollivant Misrepresents District Boundaries in Campaign Videos

In a curious development during the congressional race, Republican candidate Doug Ollivant has come under scrutiny for disseminating outdated maps of the Virginia district he aspires to represent. Ollivant is vying for a seat in Virginia’s 7th District, which includes Fredericksburg, Bowling Green, and Culpeper, against Democratic incumbent Eugene Vindman.

Since June 2026, Ollivant’s campaign has uploaded at least four videos on social media platforms that inaccurately display the district’s boundaries. These maps incorrectly extend southward into much of central Virginia, reflecting a pre-2021 configuration before the district’s lines were officially redrawn.

Significantly, one of these videos is being promoted through paid advertisements on Facebook, indicating financial investment in a map that does not reflect the current district layout.

Ollivant, who previously held the position of director for Iraq at the U.S. National Security Council under the Bush administration in 2008, has been labeled as a political outsider in almost all campaign videos, despite his extensive governmental experience.

The race is heating up as Ollivant prepares for the Republican primary on August 4, where he will face off against Pentecostal minister Philip Harding and pastor Ricky Smithers.

Virginia’s 7th District is noted as one of the most competitive contests in the 2026 House elections.
