Pennsylvania House Candidate Faces Scrutiny Over Business Tax Debts
Scott Timko, a contender in the upcoming special election for Pennsylvania’s 12th District, believes his experience as a small business owner has equipped him for legislative duties. However, financial issues surrounding one of his businesses have drawn attention.
Running in the August 18 election, Timko emphasized his commitment to reducing taxes and cutting regulations, telling the Butler Eagle that, “The best thing for the economy is for people to keep as much of their money as possible.”
Timko and his spouse have owned several dining establishments in Cranberry Township, including Vocelli Pizza and J. Gumbo’s Cajun. They also managed GotGumbo LLC, a limited liability company.
Public documents from the Butler County Prothonotary reveal that both Timko and his spouse were subjected to a tax lien of $32,174 each due to obligations associated with GotGumbo LLC. By July, the company’s tax debt to the state had risen to $42,471.
This is not the first instance of tax-related issues for the company. Between 2021 and 2024, GotGumbo LLC resolved outstanding liens by paying $18,877.
In addition to his business ventures, Timko has publicly discussed owning a small airplane. Records suggest that the aircraft may be registered under GotGumbo LLC. Timko mentioned in February that flying is a cost-effective travel option for him, stating, “I have a small plane. It’s almost cheaper for me to fly to Harrisburg than it is to drive on the turnpike.”
His opponent in the race is Brandon Dukes, representing the Democratic Party.
