Jack Ciattarelli’s Campaign Payments to Daughter Raise Questions

Amidst past efforts to curb nepotism in New Jersey politics, Jack Ciattarelli has reportedly compensated his daughter, Alexa Ciattarelli, nearly $80,000 for her role in managing his campaign’s digital operations.

Having served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2011 to 2018, Ciattarelli clinched the Republican nomination for governor on June 11. His daughter, Alexa, was appointed as the Senior Digital and Operations Director in his campaign, receiving $77,357.77 between May 2024 and June 2025, as per the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission records.

In 2014, Jack Ciattarelli co-sponsored the Comprehensive Anti-Nepotism Act, aiming to prevent public officials from hiring relatives or awarding them contracts. The legislation was reintroduced in 2016 but failed to pass both times. Notably, the law did not encompass campaign work.

Alexa Ciattarelli’s involvement in her father’s political activities has previously attracted attention. During the 2021 gubernatorial race, she was part of his campaign team, which contracted Go BIG Media Inc., a Republican consultancy. In 2022, she joined Go BIG, offering consulting services to American First Republicans of New Jersey. This group later received a $10,000 donation from a super PAC linked to Jack Ciattarelli, which constituted nearly half of its contributions in 2024. This action raised concerns, as American First Republicans of New Jersey was an alias for the Montclair Republican County Committee, and campaign finance laws prohibit PACs from contributing to or coordinating with county committees.

Subsequently, Jack Ciattarelli’s PAC requested a refund of the donation. However, whether any formal investigation ensued remains unclear.

Requests for comments from a Ciattarelli campaign spokesperson were not answered.
