Trump Tells Religious-Right Leaders on Pre-Debate Call that Harris Would Wage ‘War on Christianity’

Paula White, a prominent religious advisor during Donald Trump’s presidency, led a prayer call on Monday night ahead of a debate, where Trump alleged that Vice President Kamala Harris aims to make Christians “second-class citizens.”

The event was hosted by White’s National Faith Advisory Board alongside Intercessors for America. Organizers claimed that tens of thousands of faith leaders joined the call.

White introduced Trump as “a great man of God.” Trump delivered a brief version of his campaign speech, stating, “we’re in a nation that’s failing right now” and labeled the upcoming election as potentially the most significant in American history. He urged conservative Christians to vote in record numbers, describing the election as the country’s “last chance.”

During the call, Trump criticized Harris, referring to her as “Comrade Kamala.” He accused her of overseeing a “wave of anti-Christian bigotry and persecution unlike anything our nation has ever seen.” Trump claimed that if Harris becomes president, she will intensify the “left’s war on Christianity” and reduce Christians to “second-class citizens.” He promised to form a task force to combat anti-Christian bias and pledged to unite the country under God.

Trump also made unfounded claims about Harris’s stance on abortion, suggesting she supports “executing the baby after birth.” He warned that her policies would allow “millions of criminal illegal aliens” to gain citizenship and vote, which he said would diminish the voting power of Christian conservatives permanently.

Trump highlighted his judicial appointments, stating he had “transformed the federal judiciary with nearly 300 new judges, including three great Supreme Court justices.” This claim was met with mixed reviews, as some argue that the changes are not beneficial.

White prayed for Trump to have divine wisdom during the debate. She has previously referred to Trump’s political opponents as demonic and asked God to prevent any “demonic trap” or “demonic assignment” against him.

Other participants in the prayer included Dave Kubal from Intercessors for America, MAGA pastor Jentezen Franklin, Hispanic evangelical leader Samuel Rodriguez, and Detroit pastor Lorenzo Sewell. Franklin compared Trump to the biblical King David and urged pastors to speak about the election, warning that silence from the pulpit could lead to America’s destruction.

Rodriguez prayed for a civil debate where “truth will shine and the darkness of discord, relativism, and deception will be exposed.” He asked God to remind viewers that “God is not done with America and America is not done with God.”

Sewell prayed for Trump to be protected from any attacks and to be given prophetic insights, suggesting his words could both “cut and heal” as needed. He emphasized that God had “anointed” Trump to “break the shackles that have bound our country.”

White concluded the call by encouraging participants to take six-hour prayer shifts and fast on Tuesday. She expressed gratitude to Trump for the opportunity to pray over him and declared an “army is rising up” to support him, the nation, and God.

The National Faith Advisory Board’s Jenny Korn wrapped up the call by highlighting the group’s My Faith Matters tour and its upcoming stop in Wisconsin on Sept. 17.

Intercessors for America issued their own prayer points for the debate, focusing on seeking divine favor for truth and confounding liars.
