Republican Candidates in Michigan’s 10th District Tied to Controversial Prosecutor

Two Republican contenders for an open seat in Michigan’s 10th District have connections to prosecutor Peter Lucido, who has been embroiled in multiple controversies.

Financial contributions for Mike Bouchard Jr.’s campaign have come from Lucido, while Robert Lulgjuraj is a former employee of Lucido’s in the Macomb County prosecutor’s office. Both have maintained associations with Lucido even after several allegations of sexual harassment were levied against him.

In 2020, while serving as a Michigan senator, Peter Lucido was questioned by reporter Allison Donahue regarding his alleged involvement in a Facebook group that issued violent threats against Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Lucido made an inappropriate comment involving a group of visiting students that left Donahue feeling “objectified and humiliated.”

Democratic state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, currently a U.S. Senate candidate, filed a formal complaint shortly after, accusing Lucido of inappropriate behavior during their first meeting and suggesting her election was solely due to her appearance. “It was deflating after running a campaign for a year and a half,” McMorrow told WLNS. “In that moment, I felt like a piece of meat. It implied you won because of what you look like.”

Lobbyist Melissa Osborn recounted a similar experience to the Michigan Advance, claiming Lucido commented on her red hair while touching her inappropriately.

A state Senate investigation validated the claims against Lucido, leading to his removal as chair of the Senate Advice and Consent Committee in March 2020. Further allegations surfaced from County Judge Lisa McCormick, who accused Lucido of inappropriate conduct in 2019.

Despite the controversies, Lucido was elected as Macomb County prosecutor in November 2020. A subsequent investigation in 2022 revealed additional claims of harassment within his office, including derogatory comments about women and racial remarks about Black constituents.

Lucido was reelected in 2024, during which Lulgjuraj publicly supported him and was later appointed as an assistant prosecutor. Lucido’s influence extended into political campaigns, including the establishment of a super PAC supporting Bouchard in July 2025 and a public endorsement in March.

“Grateful to have the support of Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido!” Bouchard wrote on X. “Pete has spent his career protecting families across Macomb County. Together, we’ll keep fighting to make Michigan’s 10th District the best place to live, work, and raise a family, and we’ll always put Michigan first.”

The primary election on August 4 will see Bouchard and Lulgjuraj face off, with Democratic candidates Tim Greimel, a former Pontiac Mayor, and prosecutor Christina Hines also in the race.
