LONDON (AP) — Naomi Osaka, the four-time Grand Slam winner, progressed to the fourth round of Wimbledon for the first time. Delivering an impressive 6-1, 6-3 victory over Daria Kasatkina on No. 1 Court, Osaka showcased her formidable skills.

However, when discussing her daughter Shai’s birthday, Osaka shared that the celebration did not go as planned. The Japanese tennis star had planned to take her daughter to a park, but the day took a different turn. “I don’t think I should be telling you this, but she was kind of bad yesterday,” Osaka admitted with a smile. “We tried to take her to the park but then she needed to go to timeout, so we’re going to try to take her to the park again today.”

Despite the hiccup, Osaka described the birthday as “awesome,” noting that Shai successfully blew out her candles and made a wish. “I hope her wish is to behave better. Today’s a new day for her,” Osaka remarked, bringing laughter from the audience.

Looking ahead, Osaka is set to compete against top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka in the tournament’s next round.
