Man Accused of Plotting Against Dutch Princesses to Appear in Court
A 33-year-old man is scheduled to appear in court next week following his arrest on suspicion of planning an attack on two Dutch princesses, as confirmed by prosecutors on Friday.
Details from a court scheduling order, available on The Hague Public Prosecutor’s Office website, reveal that the man allegedly planned an attack against Princess Amalia, 22, the heir to the Dutch throne, and her sister, Princess Alexia, 20. The incident is said to have been planned for February in The Hague.
The court document states, “The suspect was allegedly in possession of two axes in early February with the words ‘Alexia’, ‘Mossad’, and ‘Sieg Heil’ carved into them, and he allegedly had a handwritten sheet with the words ‘Amalia’, ‘Alexia’, and ‘Bloodbath.’”
A spokesperson for The Hague’s public prosecutor’s office declined to provide further information prior to the procedural hearing scheduled for Monday. Details regarding the suspect’s arrest, including location and timing, remain undisclosed due to privacy regulations in the Netherlands, which also prevent the release of the suspect’s name.
The Royal House has yet to comment on the situation.
This is not the first instance of threats against Amalia. In 2022, threats believed to originate from organized crime forced her to abandon her student life in Amsterdam and reside at the royal palace. Queen Maxima commented at the time that Amalia, “can’t leave home” and highlighted the “enormous consequences for her life.” More details here.
Following these events, Amalia spent several months in Madrid, expressing gratitude for the city’s hospitality by inaugurating a tulip garden there. In 2020, a separate incident involved a man convicted of threatening Princess Amalia. Read more about the 2020 incident.
