(Liberty Shield Network) –
With the spread of misinformation surrounding presidential candidate eligibility, here are the facts, as laid out by the U.S. Constitution. There are only three requirements to declare yourself a candidate for the highest office in the land.
First, you must be a natural-born citizen of the United States. This means that anyone born on U.S. soil is automatically a citizen, regardless of their parents’ nationality. It does not matter where a candidate’s parents, grandparents, or any other relatives were born.
Second, a candidate must be at least 35 years old. The Constitution sets this age requirement to ensure that those running for president have a degree of life experience before stepping into the Oval Office.
Lastly, a candidate must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years. This residency requirement ensures that potential candidates have a sufficient connection to the country.
These are the only three requirements to become a presidential candidate. If someone makes claims about a candidate’s ineligibility without referencing these standards, they are not grounded in constitutional fact.
