Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls LGBTQ Movement ‘Predatorial,’ Promises Alex Jones Legislation

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene joins radical right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on “InfoWars” on Feb. 20, 2022.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Proposes Federal Legislation Following Appearance on “InfoWars”

On Wednesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene appeared on Alex Jones’s “InfoWars” show, where she labeled the LGBTQ movement as “predatorial” while asserting that she is not homophobic. By the end of the interview, Greene committed to introducing federal legislation similar to Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill, aiming to cut federal funding for schools that she claims are “indoctrinating children.”

Greene has a history of controversial statements and actions. During a previous “InfoWars” appearance in February, she suggested an act of violence against trans people, according to Media Matters. Shortly after, she attended a white nationalist conference where she criticized trans people and praised white nationalist Nick Fuentes.

Recently, Greene made headlines for her comments against Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg during a campaign rally. She suggested that Buttigieg and his husband should stay out of girls’ bathrooms, sparking widespread criticism.

False Narratives and Radical Comments

Greene’s recent remarks reflect a resurgence of harmful stereotypes about the LGBTQ community. Both she and Jones reiterated the erroneous belief that exposure to LGBTQ issues can influence children to become gay or trans. Jones started the segment by showing videos of a gay teacher in Florida and Disney creatives discussing LGBTQ representation, to which Greene responded by calling such representations a “radical sexualization of children.”

“Every single person needs to be all hands on deck and protecting our children and stopping this radical sexualization of children,” Greene asserted. Jones echoed these sentiments with a dramatic analogy involving a stranger discussing sex with children at a park, comparing it to LGBTQ education in schools.

Legislative Actions

When asked about potential legislative steps, Greene confirmed her intention to introduce a bill. “There should be no federal funding for any school, any school anywhere that is indoctrinating children, that is teaching them to change their gender, that is teaching them anything sick and disgusting like this,” she stated.

Jones then asked if she would draft a bill to remove federal funding from schools that “sexualize” children. Greene responded affirmatively, promising to begin work on it immediately after the interview.
