Homeland Security Secretary Criticizes Illinois Gov. Over Immigration Policies
During a speech in Springfield, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem expressed sharp criticism of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s immigration policies. She referenced the tragic case of a 24-year-old community activist, Emma Shafer, who was killed two years ago, allegedly by an undocumented immigrant, to underscore her point.
Noem highlighted the state’s sanctuary policies and restrictions on local police cooperation with federal immigration authorities as significant threats to public safety. She stated, “Governors like JB Pritzker don’t care if gangbangers, murderers, rapists, pedophiles roam free in this state. If they are here illegally, he’s going to protect them.”
Meanwhile, in close proximity to Noem’s speech location, a social media post captured Shafer’s mother participating in a protest against Noem, holding a sign proclaiming, “Hate Does Not Make Us Great.”
In response to Noem’s remarks, Governor Pritzker asserted that Illinois is in full compliance with federal laws and emphasized that no state legislation obstructs the prosecution of criminal cases. He remarked, “Illinoisans are sending a clear message to Trump’s lackeys that we will not let you mess with us without a resistance.”
