MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The National Veterans Wheelchair Games, the world’s largest wheelchair sports and rehabilitation event for veterans living with disabilities, will take place in Minneapolis from July 17-22 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Organizers are encouraging volunteers to support the event, noting that volunteering not only assists others but also benefits veterans’ own well-being. Staying connected with fellow veterans can help combat isolation, improve mental health, and build resilience.
For newly injured veterans, the Games offer more than just athletic competition. The event focuses on adapting to new circumstances, rebuilding confidence, and finding renewed purpose through sports and camaraderie.
Volunteers are seen as vital to helping veterans navigate these transitions and to strengthening the broader veteran community.
