SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A significant court hearing is set for this week in the murder case of Tyler Robinson, a 23-year-old accused of killing Charlie Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University. This five-day preliminary hearing will determine whether Robinson’s case proceeds to trial, potentially facing the death penalty if convicted.
Charlie Kirk, co-founder of the conservative group Turning Point USA and a prominent podcaster allied with former President Trump, was working on reshaping Republican voter mobilization for the 2024 elections. His widow, Erika Kirk, along with his parents, are expected to attend the hearing. The session will be available via livestream.
Robinson has yet to submit a plea.
