Virginia Rep. Jen Kiggans Faces Scrutiny Over Increased Net Worth

Virginia Rep. Jen Kiggans' net worth soared to $7.5M from $2.9M since 2023, challenging her critiques of opponent Elaine Luria's alleged wealth gains in office.
Kiggans’ net worth may have grown by millions in Congress

Virginia Representative Kiggans Sees Significant Net Worth Increase Since Entering Congress

Since joining Congress in 2023, Virginia Representative Jen Kiggans has reportedly experienced a substantial increase in her net worth, as detailed in her recent personal finance disclosures.

Upon her election in 2022, Kiggans declared a net worth that could be as high as $2.9 million. Her latest financial reports filed in August indicate a potential increase, showing a net worth of up to $7.5 million. This suggests a growth in her wealth ranging from $400,000 to $6.1 million during her tenure.

This financial growth presents a challenging narrative for Kiggans, who has been vocal in her criticism of her Democratic rival, former Representative Elaine Luria, accusing her of wealth accumulation during her time in office. Kiggans had previously defeated Luria in the 2022 elections and is once again competing against her in the current electoral cycle.

The situation is further complicated by reports indicating that Luria’s financial status may have remained relatively stable. When Luria entered Congress in 2019, her disclosed net worth was between $3.7 million and $13.6 million, slightly decreasing to a range between $3.4 million and $12.9 million by the end of her term.

Kiggans has consistently alleged that Luria’s net worth increased by $21 million during her time in office. However, the origin of this figure is unclear, as it surpasses the maximum potential growth Luria could have achieved during that period.

In related developments, Fox News issued a correction last month after erroneously reporting that Luria’s net worth had “skyrocketed” while she was in office.

The political race between Luria and Kiggans is heating up as they vie for the representation of Virginia’s 2nd District, which encompasses Virginia Beach. According to a House Majority PAC poll conducted in July, the race is currently neck and neck.

Nevada Audit Finds Shortcomings in Infant Opioid Care Under Lombardo

A legislative audit criticized Nevada Gov. The audit, released in April, highlights the administration’s failure to address these issues, amid Nevada’s minimal progress in reducing overdose deaths.
