Memphis Grizzlies’ Brandon Clarke Arrested in Arkansas

Brandon Clarke, a forward for the Memphis Grizzlies, was arrested in Arkansas on Wednesday. The charges against him include speeding and possession of a controlled substance.

Clarke’s playing time has been significantly impacted by injuries, limiting him to just two games this season. The Memphis Grizzlies have confirmed that he will not return for the remainder of the season.

Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo commented on the situation before the team’s Wednesday night game against New York, stating, “I’m aware of the report, but don’t have any comments.”

According to the Cross County Sheriff’s Department, Clarke was booked Wednesday afternoon. The charges listed include improper passing, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing, exceeding the speed limit, and trafficking a controlled substance. A booking photo has been made available on the department’s website.

Brandon Clarke, standing at 6-foot-7, is in his seventh season since entering the league from Gonzaga. He has missed a total of 73 games this season, initially due to surgery recovery on his right knee, followed by a right calf strain.

On March 24, the Grizzlies announced that Clarke would need more time to recover fully before participating in “high-intensity court work.” The team expects him to be ready for the next season.
