ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — During an NBA game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic on Friday night, referee Bill Kennedy exited the match in a wheelchair due to a suspected leg injury.

The incident occurred with approximately 2 1/2 minutes left in the first quarter when Kennedy began limping while running down the court. This happened during a fastbreak by the 76ers. As Paul George executed a layup, reducing Orlando’s lead to 22-20, Kennedy was observed hopping near the baseline. It was at this point that he requested help as the Magic called for a timeout.

Medical personnel attended to his right leg for several minutes before he was transported off the court in a wheelchair.

With Kennedy’s early exit, the officiating duties for the remainder of the game were handled by James Williams and Michael Smith. The Philadelphia 76ers ultimately secured a 103-91 victory.
