Conservative Initiative Project 2025 Marks Significant Progress in U.S. Policy Shift

Project 2025, a comprehensive conservative strategy aimed at reshaping the United States, has reportedly accomplished nearly half of its objectives, according to a policy tracking website.

Though former President Donald Trump claimed to be unaware of the project during his campaign, his administration has actively pursued its goals. More initiatives are expected to be realized in the near future.

Progress Tracking

The Project 2025 Tracker reports that the initiative has reached 47% of its goals. This platform describes itself as a “comprehensive, community-driven initiative to track the implementation of Project 2025’s policy proposals.” Currently, it monitors 317 objectives across 34 government agencies.

Out of these, 116 objectives are marked “completed,” amounting to just under 37% of the total. An additional 63 objectives, which represent nearly 20%, are categorized as “in progress.” The overall progress of 47% is calculated by adding completed objectives to half of those in progress.

Completed and Ongoing Objectives

Among the completed objectives, the dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has been noted. Other achievements include a ban on transgender individuals serving in the U.S. military and an expansion of immigration detention facilities. Efforts to reduce civil rights enforcement have also been realized.

Objectives still in progress include the potential elimination of the Department of Education and the cessation of federal funding to programs opposing Trump’s agenda. One ongoing task involves “cut[ting] off government contracts to entities that enforce a ‘woke agenda.’” Unstarted goals range from deregulating baby formula through the Department of Agriculture to requiring military entrance tests for federally funded schools.

Origins and Implementation

Project 2025 emerged during the last presidential campaign as a policy proposal crafted by the conservative Heritage Foundation. Although Trump distanced himself from the plan and its contributors during his campaign, several authors now hold prominent roles in his administration. These include Russell Vought, Director of the Office of Management and Budget; Peter Navarro, senior counselor for trade and manufacturing; John Ratcliffe, CIA Director; Tom Homan, border czar; and Brendan Carr, Federal Communications Commission Chairman. Vice President JD Vance authored the foreword to a recent book by Kevin Roberts, the Heritage Foundation President and Project 2025’s chief architect.

The presence of Project 2025 supporters in key positions and the Republican control of all three government branches suggest that the initiative’s agenda will likely continue to be enacted under the Trump administration.
