U.S. Evacuation Efforts in Israel: Key Details
The United States has successfully evacuated approximately 250 American citizens, including their immediate family members, from Israel through a combination of government, military, and charter flights. This operation commenced over the weekend, according to an official from the State Department.
The State Department official revealed that since June 21, a total of seven flights have been organized by the U.S. Most of these flights have been directed to Athens, Greece, with others headed for Rome, Italy, and Larnaca, Cyprus.
Additionally, some American citizens, including nonessential embassy personnel and their families, have left Israel by land routes to Jordan and Egypt. Others have opted to depart by sea. The official did not provide specific numbers for these types of departures, as they do not always receive U.S. government aid.
It is estimated that there are about 700,000 American citizens currently in Israel, a majority of whom hold dual U.S.-Israeli citizenship.
