Trump Embraces Project 2025 Architect Amid Cabinet Speculation

Donald Trump had previously distanced himself from Project 2025, claiming he had “nothing to do” with it. However, recent developments suggest a change in stance as Russ Vought, a key figure behind the project, is being considered for a Cabinet role. According to sources cited by ABC News, Vought is already undergoing the vetting process and has been spotted at Mar-a-Lago meeting with Trump’s team.

Vought, known for his tenure as the director of the Office of Management and Budget during Trump’s first term, contributed significantly to the 922-page “Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise,” a guide for the next conservative president. His chapter, “Executive Office of the President,” outlines strategies aligned with the goals of Project 2025.

Beyond Vought, other figures from Project 2025 are being considered for roles in Trump’s potential administration. Gene Hamilton, who advocated for a comprehensive reform of the Justice Department, is being discussed for a significant legal position. Additionally, Brendan Carr, a proponent of free speech and contributor to Project 2025, has been nominated for the role of Federal Communications Commission chair.

Throughout his campaign, Trump attempted to distance himself from the project, especially as it became a contentious topic among Democrats. During a nationally televised debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump remarked, “This was a group of people that got together, they came up with some ideas, I guess some good, some bad, but it makes no difference. I have nothing to do [with it].” His transition team co-chair Howard Lutnick even labeled the project as an “absolute zero” and “radioactive.”

Despite these claims, the involvement of Vought, Carr, and Hamilton in Trump’s circle indicates a renewed interest in Project 2025’s vision. This development suggests that the ambitious plans outlined in the project may influence the direction of a future Trump administration.
